UCP Leaders Meet European Journalists
Today a group of journalists from the European Union’s countries met with the leaders of the Belarusian opposition.. The group includes 13 journalists from Austria, Britain, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Poland, Portugal and Romania. The meeting was attended by the leaders of the United Civil Party Anatoly Lebedko and Jaroslav Romanchuk, chairman of the party "Just Peace" Sergei Kalyakin, co-chairman of the BCD party Vital Rymashevsky and chairman of the BPF Party Alexei Yanukevich.
"It was very important meeting on the eve of the presidential campaign, we tried to draw attention to the situation in Belarus not only among politicians, but also among ordinary people. Secondly, we told about the activities of the European Union in Belarus and the need to develop joint strategy and action plan”- chairman of the United Civil Party Anatoly lebedko said.
During the meeting, the politicians also told about abduction of prominent opposition leaders Viktor Gonchar, Yuri Zakharenko, Anatoly Krasovsky and journalist Dmitry Zavadsky.
The visit of the European journalists is aimed at informing EU citizens with specific projects that are being carried out in Belarus within the framework of the European Neighborhood Policy, the Delegation of the European Union to Belarus says in a statement.
